Why Are You Really Still Working?
Canadians who are nearing retirement age continue to work for a variety of reasons. Many of them are outlined in this article. I would add two more:
- North American culture encourages us to “live to work” unlike Europeans who “work to live”.
- As a multi-cultural society, many Canadians have strong values associated with building wealth for future generations.
If neither of these reasons describe you, let’s sit down and do some projections. You might just find that you are in a position to “work to live” and leave a legacy; if that is important to you.
The real reason you’re still working could be a variety of issues – and it’s up to you to figure out why and to find out if you can stop.
