I have been working with clients preparing for, undergoing and recovering from divorce and separation throughout my career. Most approach the decision to change their family structure with fear and sadness. “Successful” separations and divorces often result in two households that are slightly worse-off financially in the short-term but will eventually adapt and thrive. With a focus on civility and respect, both spouses can reinvent themselves alone or in new partnerships. Here’s hoping that the Gates’s divorce provides the world with two, separate and stronger icons.
